Music has always been an important part of community life in the City of Kawartha Lakes. Chances are if you have spent any time here you have probably had the good fortune to experience a performance by one of the many great performing groups that are part of our musical heritage. Over the years, the City of Kawartha Lakes has given birth to countless numbers of great bands and solo performers.
This community love of music is largely attributable to community groups like the Lindsay Kinsmen Marching Band, the Kawartha Big Band, Kawartha Kavaliers, Kawartha Male Chorus, Kawartha Lakes Singers and the Odyssey Project that have all provided valuable musical opportunities to the residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Kawartha Lakes Concert Band aims to continue this tradition by providing residents with a top notch performance ensemble. Our goals are simple. First, we aim to bring together the great players from the City of Kawartha Lakes and the wonderful music of the traditional and contemporary Concert Band repertoire. Second, we hope to inspire todays young musicians to join in and become a part of their community through music. Whether you are a player or an audience member, we hope that you find enjoyment in what we do.

Well another year is in the books for the Kawartha Lakes Concert Band. That makes five years now of music and fun. This past season saw us rehearse and perform 63 pieces of music over three concerts. Thank you to those who were able to join us for our year-end Bach to Buble Concert at the Academy Theatre. If you missed it, here is a link to our performance of Claude T. Smith's "Declaration Overture" from that evening so that you will want to make sure you mark us on your calendar for next season. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
Next year we plan to do the same. The stages are booked so that you can put the dates in your calendar right now. December 9th and April 6th concerts will be held at Cambridge Street United Church, and our year-end performance will be on June 22 at the Academy Theatre. Thanks to everyone who supported us over this past year by taking in our shows. We look forward to seeing you all again next season.

Our 2021-2022 season is done and we are able to head into the summer with a real feeling of satisfaction having closed things out with a wonderful concert on June 25th where we shared the stage with the amazing Weston Silver Band and their incredible conductor Larry Shields. We are look forward to other partnerships with WSB in the future, and have already invited Larry to visit KLCB to do workshop in the fall.
